چکیده

The majority of existing virtual heritage applications are focused on detailed 3D reconstruction of historically significant sites and ancient artifacts. Recreating the way of life of ancient people is only considered by some researchers, who employ crowd simulation for this task. Existing crowd simulation algorithms are not suitable for modeling complex individual behaviors and role dependent agent interactions with other participants in the Virtual World. To address this problem we suggest treating 3D Virtual Worlds as Normative Multiagent Systems and propose the Virtual Institutions Methodology that can be used for design and deployment of Virtual Worlds that require complex interactions involving both humans and autonomous agents. To highlight the usefulness of this approach we illustrate how Virtual Institutions are employed in the development of the Uruk prototype, which integrates 3D Virtual Worlds and Artificial Intelligence in the domain of cultural heritage.

Modeling Control Mechanisms with Normative Multiagent Systems: The Case of the Renewables Obligation

This paper is about control mechanisms for virtual organizations. As a case study, we discuss the Renewables Obligation (RO), a control mechanism that was introduced in the United Kingdom to stimulate the production of renewable energy. We apply a conceptual model based on normative multiagent systems (NMAS). We propose to model both the participants and the normative system as autonomous agent...

Designing normative open virtual enterprises

There is an increasing interest on developing virtual enterprises in order to deal with the globalization of the economy, the rapid growth of information technologies and the increase of competitiveness. In this paper we deal with the development of normative virtual enterprises (NOVEs). They are systems with a global objective that are composed of a set of heterogeneous entities and enterprise...

A Methodology for Developing Multiagent Systems as 3D Electronic Institutions

In this paper we propose viewing Virtual Worlds as open Multiagent Systems and propose the 3D Electronic Institutions methodology for their development. 3D Electronic Institutions are Virtual Worlds with normative regulation of interactions. More precisely, the methodology we propose here helps in separating the development of Virtual Worlds based on the concept of 3D Electronic Institutions in...
